Raised Foil Cards FAQ

What are Raised Foil Cards?

Raised foil cards are business cards with a metallic design element that you can feel. They have a luxurious look and feel due to:

  • Thick cardstock (16 pt)
  • Soft-touch lamination on both sides (1.5 mil)
  • Raised foil effect (front only)

How to Set Up Raised Foil Cards:

  • We recommend using design software like Illustrator or Photoshop, but we can create a mask file for you for a fee.
  • Submit two files:
    • Regular print file for the background design.
    • Mask file (vector file in black and white) indicating where the foil should be applied.
      • Black indicates foil area.
      • White indicates no foil.
      • Avoid shadows, glows, grayscale, and knockouts (due to potential shifting during application).
  • We recommend using a solid color behind the foil to avoid text or artwork showing through.

Optimizing Raised Foil Cards:

  • For best results, keep foil coverage under 50% to avoid a wavy appearance. Exceptions: patterns, thin lines, small shapes (up to 75% coverage).
  • Use font sizes of 10 pt or larger (12 pt recommended for bold fonts).

Raised Foil on Both Sides?

Currently, raised foil is only offered on one side of the card.
